Bring it down

A small group of Gorgoraptor vandenbergi (two males and three females) have gone hunting while the rest of the pack sleeps and guards the eggs. Successfully scaring up a herd of Diparolophus (a large and powerful lambeosaur) the group cut off a sexually mature young male barely 35 feet long from the safety of his kin, and give chase, harrying him with slashing blows and jumping onto his sides and back to pull him off his feet. Still, he fights back, lunging out with his horned crest, his pinky spikes, and by bucking, successfully killing one of the female Gorgoraptors with a well-placed kick. However, the victory does not last, and he falls under the coordinated attack. The surviving predators, exhausted from the battle, rest and mourn the death of their comrade, burying her in dirt, leaves and grass to make sure no scavengers find her before they consume their hard-won prize. The hunting party will call in the rest of their pack when they are finished feeding and will store meat in their crops to take back to the chicks and the juveniles.

This is a color concept of two of the creatures in my book and the first to show the dimorphism between the genders of the Gorgoraptors. Sorry if it is a bit dark in certain areas. i had a hard time getting it to look right because of the camera flash.
