Description

Tyrannoraptor
Tyrannoraptor
Meaning: Thief Tyrant
Description: large predatory theropod
Species: T. rex, T. saevidicus
Family: Deinonychosauria, Velociraptorinae
Length: 30-35 feet
Lifestyle: Hunter
Range: North America and South America, Eurasia

Distinguishing features: The largest dromaeosaur of all time, Tyrannoraptor is a vicious pack-hunting predator that surpasses the giant Utahraptor in size. An adult is covered in yellow feathers that are covered in black spots that vary in position and pattern between individuals and they have light tan brown skin and red crests, nose ridges, and throat pouches. They have the longest claws of any dromaeosaur, a full 2 ½ feet long and hard and sharp enough to pierce the armor of an ankylosaur. Males are usually larger than females and have larger crests and ridges. Adults live in large groups of up to thirty ruled by an alpha male and female. Males display during the breeding season in leks and the females choose those who are the most extravagant. Males and females pair for life and lay between twenty to forty eggs a season. The young are relatively large, at four feet long and weighing ten pounds and are covered in down that is silky and gray. They grow very quickly, hunting with the pack at eight months and maturing at six years of age. A Tyrannoraptor is also relatively long lived, with adults living about sixty years. Animals almost a hundred years old are not unheard of either. This animal also has the distinction of being the world’s smartest dinosaur after Gorgoraptor and they share a symbiotic relationship with them and Vastatotyrannus, protecting the tyrannosaur’s young in exchange for the protection of their own.

Habits and Habitat: Tyrannoraptors prefer more open forests, scrubland and grassland where their speed and power gives them an edge. They will target almost any prey from hadrosaurs to sauropods and even giant theropods like abelisaurs and pseudospinosaurs. They are also one of only two predators that actively prey on adult Mongo Grongos, which they attack by forcing them to stampede into gorges and over rough ground and into sharpened tree branches. They will then disembowel a downed victim and feed on them for weeks until they need to hunt again. However Mongo Grongos are no easy meal and pack members are often impaled on the sauropod’s shoulder and tail spikes. This dangerous prey may be the reason for the species’ producing of large numbers of young as well as their heavy-duty weaponry.

The biggest raptor of them all. I based it off the fossil find of giant dromaeosaur teeth from the Isle of Wight, belonging to giant Velociraptorines. Unlike its ancestors, the claws are better designed to slash and cut thick flesh, not just mantle prey. feel free to make your own version of him, but please get my permission first.
